The Mostra Estufa was launched in 2018 as a result of a joint initiative by Erva Daninha and the Teatro Municipal do Porto to provide a platform for new languages, aesthetics and dramaturgies in contemporary circus. It is an annual programme that seeks to foster new creations which bring the circus closer to current aesthetic trends. In addition to the festival open to the public, Estufa offers a range of support measures for artistic creation that help to consolidate projects — funding, artist residencies, publicity, production, training, lighting, video, photography and technical support, amongst others. In 2026, it brings to a close a cycle comprising nine editions and 27 new creations by artists of different techniques, perspectives, backgrounds, ages and genders. This final edition features three perspectives on balance and the manipulation of objects:
NOCAUTE – INÊS PINHO

NOCAUTE accompanies two presences that share the same space without ever meeting directly. Among actions that are completed at a distance, weaknesses, resistances and small attempts at approach are revealed. In an exhausted world, we observe two people trying to understand their own state, building a silent search, in which care arises as a possibility.
Artistic direction Inês Pinho | Creation and interpretation Inês Pinho, Giovanni Concato | Co-production Erva Daninha | Nocaute residence is supported by the European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists (EFFEA), an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA), co-financed by the European Union
EQUILÍBRIOS – PEDRO MATIAS
Balances is a contemporary circus project, which addresses the very discipline of balances as a matter of investigation. The project develops through a monodisciplinary soil, using the practice of the roll-ball as a form of expression. “What is balance?” Is the question that motivates this project. Depending on the approach, balance can be understood as a negotiation of forces between extremities. Despite its stability, it is always circumstantial and tension is an element that is always inherent in its existence. This work explores the concept through practice, seeking to understand it to recognize it in other contexts.
Creation and interpretation Pedro Matias | Direction Giacomo Scalisi | Sound composition Rafael Maia | Costumes Rita Olivença | Co-production Erva Daninha, Lavrar o Mar

ALBATROZ – VASCO GOMES

A silver tremor, a cascade of shimmering leaves and, in the background, an albatross taking flight. An experience that reflects the passage of time. A solitary moment of working with materials and substances that accumulate weight, time, and the renewal of cycles. Attempting to take flight bearing the weight of a few years, of a few constructions and collapses, of celebrations and a few embraces. Take flights into the distance!
Creation and interpretation Vasco Gomes | Monitoring Julieta Guimarães
